This sitcom depicts six friends whose living arrangements are always changing and whose relationships are usually in flux as well. Still, no matter what happens, these close friends are always there for each other. The six main characters usually live in one of two apartments across the hall from one another in a New York City apartment building (who lives in each apartment is something that changes every now and again). If they aren’t at home or at work, they can usually be found together at the Central Perk coffee house. Their career struggles, love lives and other things are depicted in the show, all with a strong touch of humor and heart. Rachel Green is an aspiring fashion designer who has to work at the coffee house until her desired career path pays off, and who starts off having recently broken off her wedding at the last minute. Perfectionist neat-freak chef Monica Geller makes sure everybody does everything just right, whether they want her to or not. Phoebe Buffay is a slightly strange, very eccentric masseuse and “singer/songwriter” whose outlook in life is unique to say the least. Joey Tribbiani is an actor who sometimes has trouble finding parts but rarely has trouble finding girlfriends. Chandler Bing is a corporate statistician who always has a biting, sarcastic remark for any situation. Ross Geller, Monica’s brother, is an insecure and socially awkward paleontologist who carries a torch for Rachel. As the show continues, the relationships between the titular “Friends” change and so do their life situations. Whether Monica is worried about going back to being overweight as she was in her youth, or Rachel and Ross are trying to decide whether they are breaking up or getting back together, these friends remain close-knit and devoted to one another.
